Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is the oldest and largest health care provider in the state. The company was founded nearly 80 years ago and has grown to insure 4.5 million members, a network of 152 hospitals and over 33,000 doctors and 8,100 employees.

Blue Cross is part of an independent licensee of a larger network, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. Blue Cross of Michigan operates out of its current headquarters in downtown Detroit and BCN’s headquarters in Southfield. The executive offices include Chairman of the Board Gregory A. Sudderth elected in 2001 and Daniel J. Loepp, president and CEO since 2006. 
Blue Cross includes subsidiary companies, Blue Care Network, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation, Accident Holdings Inc. and LifeSecure Insurance Company.  These plan options and  specialty benefit programs offered by  Blue Cross, give members the advantage to choose a plan that  best fit a groups’ or an  individual’s needs. Blue Cross and Blue Care Network have eleven walk-in service centers stretching across the state from Detroit to Marquette to best serve their current and future members.
